Global Data Review caught up with CPW’s Kristin Bryan regarding a proposed bill that takes a broad interpretation of what the FTC will need to report on regarding cyberattacks. Kristin shares her insight on what impact The Ransomware Act will have on potential stronger FTC enforcement and how companies need to be prepared:
“Such a broad interpretation will be used to encourage corporate disclosures of cyberattacks, said Squire Patton Boggs partner Kristin Bryan. “The FTC is now going to exercise its enforcement discretion under Section 5 of the FTC Act against companies that fail to disclose data breaches as this can impact individuals’ and consumers’ ability to mitigate reasonably foreseeable harms against them,” Bryan said”.
